FAQ’s

What equipment needs testing in my workplace?

Typically any electrical item that has a power lead that is plugged into a power point needs to be inspected, tested and tagged on a regular basis.

For some types of equipment or electrical items, the frequency of testing is more often where there is a higher safety risk or where there is likely to be greater use and wear. For example, a tradesman or a carpenter has a higher risk factor and needs to have their electrical equipment tested more often than a computer in a standard office.

There are some types of items and equipment like “hard wired” electrical fittings that do not need to be tested and tagged.  We are experienced and able to offer advice and support for this question in more detail on site

What is the purpose of an RCD?

An RCD (residual current device) is the industry term for a safety switch. An RCD’s main purpose is to prevent severe electrical shocks from occurring. An RCD acts as a life saving device; it detects and halts the power in an electrical socket preventing dangerous electric currents and fatal electric shocks. RCD’s are usually located on a switchboard but can be used on portable devices. Every home and workplace should carry out regular RCD safety switch testing to ensure they are working correctly.

The importance of RCD’s

If your appliance is faulty and your RCD does not trip within the required time, fatal and harmful injuries such as electric shock can occur. Regular RCD safety switch testing can help you avoid dangerous occurrences in your home and workplace.

What is Microwave Leakage Testing?

Microwave oven radiation is the energy that produces water in food to vibrate quickly, resulting in the heating of food. Faulty microwaves can distribute radiation leakage that can be very harmful.

QLD Compliance Solutions can check your microwave ovens for both radiation leakage and power output efficiency. Microwave testing is particularly important in the retail food industry.
